I imagine something different came to mind for each one of you as read that word. When Wes and I were dating I told him that it was my favorite word and he replied that he didn’t like it very much. To him it brought to mind wishes on stars and flighty, frivolous dreams. Perhaps your definition is similar. For me, hope is something entirely different. I want to make sure that is clear because of what I’m about to say. This is not something I say lightly, it’s something that has become so much a part of me that I can’t separate it from my identity any more than I could forget that I’m a wife, mom, woman, American or follower of Christ. Here it is…
I want to whisper it to every broken heart, shout it from the roof tops and declare it over a lost and hurting generation. Let. Hope. Arise. – Let confident and joyful expectation take a place of significance in your life.
Allow me a bit of a rabbit trail here – I don’t know a lot about boats, but I know what an anchor is and I particularly like these two definitions –
A rigid point of support, as for securing a rope.
If you’re in a dark season and feeling hopeless, please don’t feel condemned. I’m not saying this to bash the hopeless, but rather to call to that place inside of you that came alive when you were born again. If it’s just a tiny spark, fan it to flame! Let hope arise.
- Whether it’s life in general or a specific situation that feels impossible, get alone with God and His word and find out what He has already said about the subject. His eye is on the sparrow, His love for you is extravagant, His forgiveness is unending, His strength is available to you, He is for you – not against you….find what you need and feast on it!
- Surround yourself with people who are full of hope.Worship worship worship. Sing, dance, be still, shout, soak, whatever, but make sure that you are doing what you were created to do.
- Pray about everything and give God glory as you see Him move. Proverbs says that desire fulfilled is a tree of life. Be intentional about recognizing the desires that are being fulfilled in your life, I bet they’re even more plentiful than you realize.
That’s all for now…
